Ninja has been an amazing dog. From the day I opened her crate at the airport I knew we were going to have a special bond and a great working career. I purchased Ninja at about 13 months of age. Until I purchased her, she had been training for Internationale Prüfungs-Ordnung (IPO), formerly known as Schutzhund. IPO is a three part sport which includes Tracking, Obedience and Protection phases.
I started training Ninja to become a Human Remains Detection K9 for Brookings County K9 Search and Rescue. Ninja and I are also members of Canine Search Solutions. She took to training quickly and, within only 5 weeks, had accomplished more than 5 years of training with my previous K9. We have worked cases in multiple states and with various agencies ranging from the FBI, Highway Patrol, county and local law enforcement agencies. Ninja has had 11 confirmed finds in her short career.
Ninja loves to work. She is always ready to go and does everything with intensity and exuberance. I have never seen her shy away from any activity or any situation. She is intelligent, social (with dogs and people), super agile, has a fast strike with hard full grips, and has good retrieve behavior. She has high prey and hunt drive and moderate food drive. She has been raised with a young boy who was only 2 years old when we brought her home. She is very protective of him and does not like him out of her sight. We have 2 other dogs (1 spayed female, 1 neutered male) in household and have no troubles.
Ninja is very well muscled. She is more “boxy” in the face then many Dutch Shepherds in my opinion. She typically weighs in at the 52-55lb range and is a rocket with a lot of power.
